Travel Packing List

In most cases, packing as a solo traveler is not very different as it is when packing for a trip with someone else. However, there are some pressing issues that may arise when you are undertaking a solo trip, one of which is issues to do with personal safety and security. If you are traveling alone, it means you don’t have anyone to watch your back thus extra precautions have to be taken and will be required to pack the following items for the Uganda safari;

Clothing

As earlier mentioned, some items especially clothing don’t change much for solo travelers because whether you are traveling alone or with a companion, there are items you will always have to pack and they include long trousers/skirts or dresses, long sleeved shirts/tops, sleeveless tops, pajamas, underwear and many others.

Backpack with padded straps

This is mainly done to prevent your bag or backpack from plopping onto the floor behind you besides the fact that the backpack spreads out the weight better. Not only that, you will need a bag that allows you to navigate through different routes without worrying about anything.

First Aid Kit

It is important to carry a first Aid Kit with few medical necessities such as anti-bacterial wipes, bandages, anti-malarial and anti-diarrheal tablets.  Other drugs you may need include cold tablets and eye allergy drops among others.

Reusable bag

Strong reusable bag is important for protecting against moisture and is important for keeping items organized and help find things quickly.

Money belt

The money belt is important for carrying cash and credit cards and should always be hidden under your clothes and only keep little that you need for the day in your inexpensive wallet.

Multi-purpose shoes

It is tiresome to carry different pairs of shoes for different activities yet you can actually carry a multi-purpose pair of shoes for all the activities and this is preferably hiking boots because you can use them for all activities-nature walks/hiking, mountain climbing, gorilla trekking, chimpanzee tracking and even game drives among others.

Zip pocket jacket

A zip pocket jacket is important for keeping your items such as phones and quick cash so that you have access to your essential items you need while at the same time offering extra warmth during cold weather.

Personal Alarm or whistle

Much as it is always ignored, you have to prepare for the unknown by safeguarding your own life through carrying some pepper spray when you travel. It is not illegal to have it in Uganda so you can be able to defend yourself against rapists. However, you can carry a whistle or any other noise making devise to scare away your attackers to draw the attention of nearby help.

Emergency contact information Card

Just like another person going on a safari, a first-time solo traveler to a destination must have an emergency contact information card so that someone can help in case of any emergency situations such as accidents.

Other items you need include strong folder for printed documents, strong waterproof backpack, scarf, head lamp and Flip-flops or sandals among others.
